Head of Paraplanning: Full-Time Vacancy

An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Paraplanning to join a successful and growing company.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The successful candidate will manage a team of paraplanners and provide support with ad-hoc paraplanning at Wise Investment, based in Chipping Norton.

The office hours are Monday- Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.

The primary purpose of this role is to line-manage the paraplanning team and work with the CEO and the rest of the management team on business strategy and day-to-day operational issues.

 

Paraplanning Role:

  • Abide by the FCA conduct rules
  • Analysis of client circumstances, objectives, requirements, and risk profile
  • Research into, and analysis of, the client’s current financial arrangements
  • Analysis of client CGT position and other tax considerations
  • Researching products and solutions
  • Preparation and writing of recommendation letters and reports
  • Assist with client reviews, including attending some client meetings
  • Dealing with queries from clients and other staff
  • Work with other team members to keep client records up to date
  • Keep up to date with changes in all necessary financial planning areas

 

Management Role:

  • Line management of paraplanning team members, including appraisals and 1-2-1s and dealing with day-to-day queries
  • Workflow allocation in the team
  • Support the para planners with day-to-day queries
  • Attend weekly Operations meeting and be responsible for actions relating to the Paraplanning team
  • Work with the CEO and Management Team to develop and carry out the company business plan
  • Chair team meetings
  • Carry out audits for the team
  • Any other activities to help support the paraplanning team and the wider business

 

Key Requirements:

  • 5 years plus paraplanning experience
  • Minimum level 4 Diploma qualified or equivalent within the finance industry
  • Strong interpersonal skills and previous experience managing a team
  • Thorough knowledge of investments, pensions and financial services regulation
  • Commitment to excellent customer service
  • Report writing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Solid numeracy skills and statistical analysis
  • Ability to conduct research
  • Good computer skills
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Highly organised and strong attention to detail
  • A robust work ethic and a strong sense of responsibility
  • Prior experience of project management within a business is desirable

 

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS

 

  • Basic salary: Dependent on experience
  • Pension contribution: 5% of basic salary. Salary sacrifice available.
  • Holiday allowance: 32 days, plus Bank Holidays and Christmas week – One volunteer day per year                                                                     
  • Individual training budget: £2,000 (10% can be used for personal training)
  • Private Medical Insurance: Aviva Private Medical Insurance
  • Death in service: 4x basic salary (salary cap £150,000)
  • Income protection: Maximum 75% of basic salary (salary cap £145,000)
  • Working hours: 35 hours per week
  • Probation period: 6 months

Salary and benefits work on a pro-rata basis for part-time Partners.
